Student Spotlight: Atlanta Academy Student Evija T. Competes on the International Tennis Stage

Atlanta Academy is proud to celebrate the incredible accomplishments of 8th-grade student Evija T., whose dedication and talent in tennis continue to shine on a global stage.

In today’s competitive tennis world, rankings can be difficult to define. With athletes competing across multiple age groups, countries, and ranking systems, answering the simple question, “What is she ranked?” is not always straightforward. One of the most respected global metrics is UTR (Universal Tennis Rating), a system that evaluates players regardless of age, gender, or country to determine an overall skill level.

Recently, UTR released a ranking list identifying the Top 25 14U girls tennis players in the world, and Evija was ranked #22 globally. This recognition places her among the very best young players worldwide and is a testament to her hard work and commitment to excellence.

One of Evija’s proudest achievements to date was qualifying to represent Team USA in the America’s Cup tournament last November. She was selected as one of only 4 girls in the country to compete, an extraordinary honor and accomplishment.

Looking ahead, Evija will continue training in Georgia and with USTA Player Development in Orlando, while competing in tournaments across the country. She will also participate in multiple International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournaments, competing in the 18U division, even though she is only 13.

Evija’s dedication, discipline, and passion for tennis are truly inspiring. We are incredibly proud of all she has accomplished and look forward to watching her continue to grow and succeed in the sport. Congratulations, Evija! Your Atlanta Academy family is cheering you on every step of the way!

Atlanta Academy Launches First-Ever Student Newspaper: Academy Times

Atlanta Academy is proud to announce the publication of our very first student newspaper, Academy Times! This exciting new monthly publication is a student-led initiative designed to celebrate school life, highlight student voices, and keep our community informed and connected.

The idea for Academy Times began with 5th-grade student Ruby J., who approached Mrs. Naples with a vision: a student-created newspaper, by students, for students. Ruby developed a detailed plan and created a presentation outlining her ideas for content, organization, and production. After presenting her proposal to Mrs. Naples and the Marketing Team, Ruby’s plan was approved—and she immediately got to work turning her dream into reality.

As Editor-in-Chief, Ruby took the lead in building a team of fellow students, organizing content, collecting stories, and developing the paper's structure. She is joined by her talented team members Faith J., Hattie Z., Elsie R., and Millie F., who each play an important role in bringing The Academy Times to life. Together, they collaborated on gathering stories, writing articles, and shaping the publication's voice.

Ruby also worked closely with the Marketing Team to create a professional template for the print edition and helped guide the full production process from start to finish.

Ruby and her team printed, folded, and prepared the first edition of Academy Times, delivering copies to students and faculty across campus. Ruby even presented the newspaper during Morning Prayer, officially introducing the publication to our community.

Atlanta Academy Preschool Earns Prestigious NAEYC Accreditation+

Atlanta Academy is proud to announce that our Preschool has earned NAEYC Accreditation+, the highest level of recognition awarded by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This significant milestone affirms our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional early childhood education and reflects the quality families experience every day in our Preschool classrooms.

NAEYC Accreditation+ is more than an honor—it is a promise to families. It assures that children at Atlanta Academy learn in an environment intentionally designed to support their social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and academic development, grounded in research-based best practices.

What Is NAEYC Accreditation+?

NAEYC is the nation’s leading organization dedicated to advancing excellence in early childhood education. Accreditation+ signifies that a program not only meets but exceeds national standards, demonstrating that high-quality practices are embedded into daily learning, relationships, routines, and environments.

Earning this designation is the result of years of thoughtful reflection, continuous improvement, and a deep commitment to children and families. Our Preschool team engaged in a rigorous process that included extensive documentation, self-study, and an on-site evaluation to verify that our practices align with NAEYC’s highest expectations.

What This Means for Our Families

Families can feel confident knowing that Atlanta Academy Preschool offers:

  • Warm, nurturing relationships that foster security, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging

  • Purposeful, developmentally appropriate learning that builds early literacy, mathematical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills

  • Responsive teaching practices that honor each child’s individuality while encouraging curiosity, independence, and joyful exploration

  • Safe, healthy environments and routines that go beyond basic licensing requirements

  • Thoughtful assessment and clear communication to ensure each child’s growth is understood and supported

  • Highly trained educators committed to ongoing professional learning and excellence

  • Strong family-school partnerships rooted in trust, collaboration, and open communication

  • A program held to rigorous national standards with a commitment to continuous improvement

A Commitment to the Highest Standards

To earn accreditation, programs must demonstrate excellence across 10 NAEYC Standards, including curriculum, teaching, assessment, health and safety, family engagement, professional qualifications, learning environments, and leadership. Each standard includes detailed expectations related to materials, routines, teacher-child interactions, and family communication.

Our Preschool team worked diligently to meet and exceed these standards, ensuring that quality is not just a goal—but a lived experience for every child.

Celebrating Our Preschool Team

This achievement would not be possible without the extraordinary dedication of our Preschool educators. Throughout the accreditation process, our team worked tirelessly—often beyond regular hours—to compile evidence, reflect on practice, and prepare for the site visit, all while continuing to provide the warm, intentional, and engaging learning experiences our children enjoy each day.

This accreditation is a direct reflection of their professionalism, collaboration, and deep care for the children and families they serve. We are incredibly proud of the learning community they help create every day.

Thank You to Our Families

To our Preschool families—thank you for your trust and partnership. Together, we are creating a joyful, engaging, and high-quality early learning experience where every child is known, supported, and given the individual attention they need to thrive.

We are honored to share this milestone with our community and look forward to continuing this important work—growing curious, confident learners from the very start.
